Pakuranga College ICT Council

Hi Everybody! Sorry about the name for this wikispace, but I struggled to come up with anything else.

In the last meeting we were discussing what needs to be done to get teachers to use ICT more effectively for your learning. My suggestion was that we look at what is being done well in school, and use this as examples to inspire our other staff.

Here's the list of "Things That Teachers Do With ICT That We Find Helpful" that we started. Please add to the list

  • Use Flipcams to give immediate feedback in subjects where physical/verbal stuff is important. Health, Dance, Languages etc
  • Upload resources to read
  • Online task sheets
  • Templates provided
  • Google Docs for collaborative learning.

I've thought of a couple more things that you might want to add in there:

  • Use of discussion groups and forums
  • Being able to submit work electronically
  • Being able to receive feedback electronically
  • Subject-specific tools that work for you (i.e., Geogebra, Science stuff)
  • Any other web-based resources that could be used for learning (for instance, Prezi)

What I really want to do is give teachers the opportunity to learn these things, so the more you can come up with, the easier it will be to push teachers in the right direction
